okay so I'm sure charlotte's just wearing a skin colored shade shirt under her dress and maybe this isn't totally the most appropriate thing ever in the world, but it was just too funny to pass up with hunter's smile and charlotte's face. so if you're offended just don't watch. but i thought it was dang hilarious. enjoy. unless you don't want to.

Give Life... Give Blood

I've never had anything to post about before... and this isn't that exciting, but I thought I'd write about it. I'm procrastinating finishing my Julius Caesar test for my Shakespeare class.
So yesterday I went to give blood for the first time. I always thought I couldn't give blood because I'd had mono and that stays in your blood for forever. But you can, as long as it's not active. Anyway, they had the blood drive here on campus and Katie signed us up. So I was kinda nervous, but not too bad. So I finally get in the chair and I'm really hungry at that point, but I'm thinking, oh well. So she puts the needle in and almost as soon as she does it I just get really tired. So the more I sit there the weaker I'm feeling and even starting to see spots. So she finishes up and is wrapping my arm and asks how I feel. I told her I wasn't feeling very well and she says "yep, you're white!" so she tips my chair back and makes me move my legs back and forth, puts a cold cloth on my forehead and makes me cough (why cough? I have no idea). Katie's over at the food table eating and turns around to see me lying like this. So she comes over and brings me food and I'm thinking okay, yeah, I'm feeling better. So Katie leaves to go get her stuff and I am about to stand up and some nurse (excuse me, phlebotomist) walks by and says "do you feel okay?" I said yes and almost immediately felt worse then I had yet. My vision was totally going black and I started hearing ringing in my ears so I'm like, actually I'm feeling not so good. "yeah, there goes your color again!" so they tip me back again and we start it all over and Katie turns around to find me again like that! It was funny. Anyway, so they finally moved me to a cot to free up their chair and then I was trying to call someone for a ride home cause I didn't think I could walk all the way home. No one was answering but I finally got a hold of my roommate who was just getting off work in the building right next to where we were. I thought I had made it clear I needed a ride home, but apparently I didn't. Cause she showed up about five minutes after we called her and said I'm here! (not enough time to get from campus to home and then get her car and bring it back to us) And then proceeded to hold onto my arm while we walked home :) so I was grateful for her help, but all the same, I wanted to cry when I realized she hadn't brought her car. Anyway, so thats a long and not very entertaining story, but I thought I'd share all the same. And I have a fear of passing out, so I was really grateful I didn't actually pass out!

A Christmas-time poem for yous
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The scriptures were laid by the pillows with care,
In hopes that President Monson soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of bingo danced in their heads;
And I in my skivvies, and ma in her flannel,
Had been lying down, watching the REM channel.
When up from the desk, there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away from the bed, we clumsily stumbled,
“Who the $%#! could that be,” I hastily mumbled.
The moon through the glass in the dark of midnight
Scattered deep shadows to keep the phone hid from sight.
Scattered deep shadows to keep the phone hid from sight.
When, what to our wondering ears came the sound,
Of “Who let the Dogs Out!”, blaring up from the ground
We jumped at the uproar and got a bit nervous.
Friends or family needing an ambulance service?!
We grabbed the phone to stop the sleep-breaking noise.
It is 1 am, I shouted into the void!
We stared down the display, trying to think through our stupor.
And what did we find? (You’re gonna think this is super)
Not a death, not a sickness, not disaster nor pain,
We jumped at the uproar and got a bit nervous.
Friends or family needing an ambulance service?!
We grabbed the phone to stop the sleep-breaking noise.
It is 1 am, I shouted into the void!
We stared down the display, trying to think through our stupor.
And what did we find? (You’re gonna think this is super)
Not a death, not a sickness, not disaster nor pain,
Not a neighbor, or baby, not Armageddon or rain.
To the side of the bed, to the top of the wall
Now silence them, silence them, silence them all!
On that bright screen, on that there LCD,
Was no plea for help, no one in great need.
They were dressed all in fur, from the head to the waist,
To the side of the bed, to the top of the wall
Now silence them, silence them, silence them all!
On that bright screen, on that there LCD,
Was no plea for help, no one in great need.
They were dressed all in fur, from the head to the waist,
And their clothes were immaculate, not put on in great haste;
A picturesque view, they had at their back,
And they looked like some hikers just missing their pack.
Their eyes -- how they twinkled! Their dimples how merry!
Their cheeks were like roses, their noses like cherries!
Her droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the hair at his temples was as white as the snow;
She had a nice face; he, not much of a belly,
And they looked fairly clean, I would guess not too smelly.
They were familiar and happy, a right jolly old couple,
And I tried not to curse, in spite of the trouble;
We spoke not a word, but went straight back to sleep,
When the second text came, I started to weep.
Then pulling my hair in a frustrated pose,
And giving a shake, off the bed I arose
I looked at the pic, and turned to my wife,
Mom sure can use text, she wields it like a knife.
Then I heard her exclaim, as I shut off the light,
“If only we could get her not to use it ALL NIGHT”
We spoke not a word, but went straight back to sleep,
When the second text came, I started to weep.
Then pulling my hair in a frustrated pose,

Stuff

So I'm sick of studying and have a headache after 14 hours of school and I'm bored. I can't think of anything else to do so I'm trying to think of something to post here, but I got nothin. We don't write down Hunter's funny things so I never remember them, even though he makes us laugh almost every day. So let's see......he does have a wild imagination and is always making stuff up, saying there are monsters somewhere, or he's a superhero, or he's flying, or his "friend" BOOtBYt (read booby), needs help or will do what we ask him to. I can't believe some of the stuff he comes up with. I wanted to take him camping and fishing last weekend, but SOMEBODY decided it should rain for 10 days straight.
So I was in clinic today and I got to epilate my patient for the first time. It's a complicated semi-surgical procedure and insurance pays $40 every time it is performed. Whoever can tell me exactly what I did wins the pat on the back prize! One of my other patients had bilateral macular lesions. I've also seen a 17 year old girl with a tumor on the back of her eye-maybe the coolest thing I've seen to date. The best way to describe it was if someone took a big handful of bright yellow fat and chucked it onto the back of her eye. Wow- The picture doesn't really do it justice, but it looked something like the one on the top right.
So now that you're all impressed by my awesomeness, this morning I got to class late and about 5 min after I sat down my buddy texted me. Of course the instructor was in the middle of a long pause, so it was dead silent when I felt my pocket start to buzz. A half second later, everyone hears-"WHO LET THE DOGS OUT, WHO, WHO, WHO, WHO...." It was pretty funny, and the instructor played right along...I've got an audio file I can email if you want. It's tough to hear, but it's funny.
Also, this weekend I managed to give myself a second degree burn with a light bulb and slice off the tip of my thumb all within 24 hours. So I know I'm good, but I'm not perfect yet-so don't get too jealous;)

I am writing this for a test. Does anyone read the blog? How long has it been since you have read it? Just in case you do, you can be the first to know...Dad and I are having a baby!!! Exciting, huh? Since no one else is having one, I just thought we should be contributing. Besides, our family at home is dwindling and we need to multiply and replenish. I wanted to have a baby before I turn 50 and start to feel my age.
April Fools! Oh, I mean September Fools! I got you for a minute, didn't I? Haha.
Who read this? Respond please. And know that I love you-ALL of my children. (etc) :)

not-so-exciting-kind-of-scary experience
So I just thought I would update everyone on our new experience last week. Tuesday night we went out to eat at Chili's with a gift card from our wedding. We were excited because we'd never eaten there before and they had a deal going on. Anyway shortly after we got home Aaron started feeling pains of indigestion. It kept getting worse even tho he took tums, rolaids and the unmentionable pink stuff (pepto bismal sp?). Eventually he started feeling a tightening in his chest and lots of pressure that was making it hard to breathe. I started calling instacares but no one was open so I called the hospital and they said since it was his chest he should go to the ER. We wanted a second opinion so we called his stepmom who's a nurse and she said the same thing. So off we went at 12:30 to the ER. It was getting worse while we were waiting and finally I got up and asked if someone could possibly help him now since he was having a harder time breathing and was near passing out. We got him in and they started doing tests. They did a chest xray, an ekg, and an I.V. to get some blood samples. His parents came up and his dad gave him a blessing. It was nice to have their support.
Eventually (about 4 hours later) the dr. came in and gave us the diagnosis. we can't remember the word for it but it's something similiar to Pleurisy which is an inflammation of the lining of the lungs. So they told him to take 800 miligrams of ibprofen 3 times a day and rest. We got home around 5 in the morning and slept for about 2 hours before he woke up with shortness of breath. Luckily it got better and he's been slowly recovering. We discovered that stress is a big contributor to his pain and tightness so we've been trying to lower that.
Anyway it was definitely a new adventure that i'd be totally fine with never experiencing again.
But i thought I would just share our news. This past weekend was awesome to be a part of the Crockett family events. Candice went through the temple on friday night. Bethanie was baptized Saturday morning and Ryan gave his farewell talk on Sunday. After lunch at Crockett's Aaron and I drove down to Lehi to babysit Amelia's 5 kids. It was pretty intense putting them all to bed at once. I think we neglected the baby but she lived through it. We definitely don't feel a desire to have 5 children right now. Aaron asked if we could just start at the beginning with one. I feel good about that. (this isn't any sort of announcement btw). So it was a pretty crazy week and we were happy to get back home.
So that's about it. Oh but our most exciting news is that we are going to Las Vegas the first weekend in September!! Aaron's grandma called and said she had planned a trip for her and her kids to go to a show down there but his uncle couldn't go so she invited us! We're just paying for the gas money to get down there. And then we'll go to Page AZ to visit his sister and brother in law (which is by Lake Powell). So we're pretty excited. Our first gambling experience, um, that is, i mean... just kidding!
Love you all
